Apprenticeships - Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Electrical fitters install electrical equipment, perhaps a new machine in a factory or a new fuse box in a home. They will understand electrical wiring diagrams and know how to connect and fit equipment correctly.

Maintenance engineers are responsible for the upkeep and repair of electrical equipment, usually in a factory or plant. They must be able to identify problems if something breaks down and get it running again quickly and safely.

Electronic engineers are involved with circuits and wiring within electronically controlled equipment such as a CD player or an aircraft navigation system. They will use a variety of tools to construct and then test equipment.

Instrumentation and Control engineers are responsible for the use of engineering technology to set, measure and sequentially operate a purpose built system from traffic light signals to advanced manufacturing robots.
