Basic Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMA)

 WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course introduces individuals to basic welding techniques, supported by theoretical knowledge of the subject. Suitable for both hobbyists and those who undertake welding in their jobs.


OBJECTIVES
The course objectives are to develop an individual’s practical skills, to enable them to reach the levels required by the chosen Standard ensuring a full understanding of the MMA welding process and the associated safety requirements.

 SUGGESTED CONTENT

  1. Welding safety
  2. Process principles
  3. Identification of welding controls and settings
  4. Types of power supply (AC/DC) and their application
  5. Electrode selection and types
  6. Types of filler wire and their application
  7. Producing a butt weld in the down hand position
  8. Producing a lap fillet in the down hand position
  9. Producing a tee fillet in the down hand position

MATERIAL
Mild Steel

Other materials are available upon request.  Please note that additional charges will be applicable.

 PPE REQUIRED

Learners will need to bring the following with them:
- Safety boots
- Fire retardant overalls
- A pair of welding gauntlets
- Welding Screen
