HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND)

 OVERVIEW

The Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) is a two year part-time course that allows candidates to further enhance their career choices and opportunities in supervision and management in the engineering sector. Candidates are likely to have progressed from the HNC in General Engineering and already be working within the industry.

The HND course offers a vocational based level 5 programme of study incorporating a balanced programme of engineering principles, design and applications within manufacturing, electrical and mechanical fields. Completing this course will allow you to progress your career or progress to Level 6 engineering degree courses studied at University.

 COURSE DURATION

Two years - Attendance Part Time

The course will be delivered via face to face classes at our Southampton facility in Millbrook and remote online learning will take place where necessary. All learners will have access to their subject tutors.

 

 TOTAL QUALIFICATION TIME

1,200 hours (inc 480 Guided Learning Hours). Independent study will be required. 

 

 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A* to C grade and/or 9 to 5 in GCSE Maths (or equivalent) is strongly recommended.
A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering (Merit or Distinction).
Successful completion of a Level 4 BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering (inc at least 3 merit grades, equal to 120 credits, of which one should be mathematics).
A/AS Level in Maths and a Science to include Physics (grade A* to C).
Mature students who have relevant industrial experience that relates to the programme structure.

 

 INTERVIEWS

 Candidates are required to sit an interview ahead of the course starting.  These are planned to take place during the last two weeks of August.
