OVERVIEW
This part time course is aimed at anyone who wants to learn a new skill or top up their existing knowledge. It provides learners with the essential skills in how to use Computer Aided Design Software. You will learn how an object is designed in 2D. It will enable you to produce engineering drawings, parts and assemblies of engineering components.
COURSE CONTENT
The qualification providers learners the skills and knowledge to design a 2D object. Candidates will learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and career progression in the broad engineering and manufacturing sectors.
• Be able to use a CAD workstation safely
• Be able to use key components in 2D CAD software
• Be able to create lines and shapes relative to a co-ordinate system
• Be able to use text, hatch and simple dimensioning routines
• Be able to modify existing drawings
• Be able to output a 2D drawing layout
LEVEL
This course is a Level 2 qualification.
COURSE DURATION
The course will be delivered on a part-time basis for 3 hours on either a Monday or Tuesday evening over a 20 week period (a total of 60 hours).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need to have a good understanding and skill in using general IT packages including Word. Experience of using a computer with keyboard and mouse is essential.
PROGRESSION - WHAT NEXT?
Successful completion of the qualification will allow candidates to progress into employment or further City & Guilds qualifications. Depending on entry level this could be Level 3 Award in 2D Computer Aided Design or a Level 1 Award in Parametric Modelling
